Making Comics - Workshops

Becca Hillburn, a comic artist and illustrator originally from Luling, will host a series of three comics workshops at the end of December: DIY Zines, How to Write Comics, and How to Ink Comics. 

These workshops are designed for ages 9 to adult. Registration is required for all workshops.

In this workshop, we're going to cover the basics of zines- small handmade books that can include everything from family recipes to mini comics. Flip through a selection of zines to spark your inspiration, then prepare to learn all about the zine making process!

Making Comics: How to Ink Comics - Register!

In this class, you'll learn how to traditionally ink your comics and illustrations!  We're going to cover everything from the basics of technical pens to inking with brush and nibs.  Feel free to bring your own comic to work on, or play around with the paper we've provided!

 

Becca enjoys both American comics and manga, including Smile!, Yotsuba&!, Barakamon, Nimona, and 20th Century Boys. Becca has a MFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design, comics published in several anthologies, and has self published the first volume of her ongoing comic, 7" Kara, which you can read as a webcomic! Becca currently lives in Nashville, TN with her annoying gray cat, and she shares her love of comics through online tutorials and video demonstrations.
