Event Details

Do you have a letter, article, or photograph that tells the story of the 1930s and '40s? We want to bring these personal pieces of history to life and share them in an upcoming display in conjunction with the Americans and the Holocaust traveling exhibition

What we're looking for:

  • Letters: Correspondence from families, service members, survivors, or any letters that capture personal experiences or reflections during WWII.
  • Newspapers: Articles, front pages, or advertisements that offer a glimpse into how the Holocaust or WWII was reported in America during or after the events.
  • Photographs: Personal images or news photos that depict what life was like in St. Charles Parish in the '30s and '40s.

Why contribute?

  • We will share our local perspective by displaying copies of the materials collected during our host period for Americans and the Holocaust.
  • Help future generations understand the real, personal experiences that history books often leave behind.
  • Play a key role in preserving the legacy of the Holocaust and the American response.

How to contribute:

  1. Gather your materials (letters, newspapers, photographs, etc.).
  2. Bring your materials to the library on scanning days. Drop in anytime on:

    - East Regional Library: Wednesday, July 23 from 3 pm - 6 pm

    - West Regional Library: Saturday, August 16 from 10 am - 1 pm

    3. We will collect your materials, digitize them, and return them to you at your preferred library branch.
